While Prince created some legendary music for himself, he was also a hit maker for others.
One to always be a mentor and help rising artist, one of the groups that Prince helped create was The Family (which goes by fDeluxe these days). One of their hit songs that was written by The Purple One himself was “Nothing Compares 2 U.”
Now, some thirty years later, the group has united to do re-recording of the piece in dedication to the iconic legend.
Along with a visual, the group dedicated their reunion to Prince, saying
“It’s with a musically heavy heart that tonight we honor our dear friend and musical collaborator Prince on what’s to be seven hours and 13 days after his passing.”
Comprised of Susannah Melvoin, Paul Peterson, Eric Leeds and Jellybean Johnson, the group was formed in 1985. Prince co-wrote most of the songs on their debut album, which reached topped charts and has several single hits.
While the band ultimately dismembered, a few of them continued to working closely with Prince, going on to join his personal band, “Revolution.”
