Denzel and Pauletta Washington decided to host a fundraiser at their house to help raise millions for the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Apparently, the couple invited all their rich friends and raised more than $17 million for the museum! Denzel went on:

“There is such a historical significance to this project. It means so much for our community, our country and to future generations.”

Aside from the 17 million made, Shonda Rhimes made a $10 million dollar pledge.

The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture will open to the public on September 24.
