Yesterday (May 17) marked one year since the past of Queens rapper Chinx. The news of his murder shocked both fans and colleagues alike, putting the industry in a somber mood just months before his long-awaited debut album.

In the early hours of May 17, 2015, the rapper’s Porsche was completely shot up. Chinx, -real name Lionel Pickens, was transported to Jamaica Medical Center with wounds to the chest and torso, where he was later pronounced dead. The rapper was with a friend, Yemen Cheese who survived the shooting. Chinx just left an appearance at in Brooklyn just before he was gunned down. The murder had several leads around the time of the shooting, which turned out to be dead-ends. The case still remains unsolved.
