When Kanye West said “Nike gave LeBron a billi not to run away,” on his year end recap song “Facts” Lebron James became a winner in everyone’s eyes for getting one of the largest deals in sneaker history. James has never confirmed or deny the amount, but we do have some new insight on the historic deal.
In an interview with GQ, James’ childhood friend and current business partner Maverick Carter gave a little info on the deal. He didn’t give exact numbers, but when asked about the billion dollar deal, Carter pointed up, meaning that the deal may be worth more than $1 billion.
“It’s a fantastic deal. Nike feels great about the deal. That’s the most important thing,” Carter said.
“It’s the largest deal in the history of the company. Their hope is he makes even more. And our hope is that, too, obviously.”
This is how you build generational wealth. Micheal Jordan became the first NBA player to cross that billion dollar mark, add this Nike deal and the businesses James is invested in and he’ll surely surpass Jordan before he retires.
