Three days after co-defendant Rashid “Rasha” Derissant was sentenced to 98 1/3 years in prison for murder and 21 other charges, Alex “A-Rod” Crandon learned his fate from a Manhattan Supreme Court Judge. On May 20, the Bobby Shmurda GS9 affiliate was sentenced to 53 1/3 years in prison for conspiracy, murder and a slew of other convictions.
The NYDailyNews reports that before sentencing he pleaded to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott to receive a lighter sentence.
“Please allow me the opportunity to become a productive citizen and raise my daughter to become one also.”
The judge, didn’t buy it at all and told Crandon “he gave up irrevocably the opportunity” to live and enjoy life as a free man and saw “really no reason to risk the safety of the public.”
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan cosigned the judge’s statements by stating, “The residents of East Flatbush should feel safer, because the defendant will no longer be able to terrorize their streets,” in a statement.
So far this is the fourth member of GS9 to be sentenced after the 2014 mass arrest of Bobby Shmurda and several other GS9 members. Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel and two others are set to begin trial this September.
