After a six-year hiatus the “Vh1 Hip-Hop Honors” will be back this year to honor the women of Hip-Hop.
The show will be produced by Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit, and Shakim Compere. It will air live on VH1 on Monday July 11 at 9pm from New York City. VH1 released a press release about the comeback show:
With hip hop dominating pop culture, VH1 today announced the triumphant return of “HIP HOP HONORS” to celebrate the trailblazing first ladies of hip hop. The show will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who lead a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.
In the past, the show has honored everyone from Public Enemy to Dej Jam and Russel Simmons. It’s good to see the ladies finally get their night.
