UPDATE: May/26/2015 7:30pm EST: Troy Ave has officially been charged with Attempted Murder & Criminal Possession of a Weapon

Troy Ave has been arrested following Wednesday night’s fatal shooting at Irving Plaza in New York City. The New York Daily News reports that he’s been charged with reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm.

The Daily News is also reporting that the gunshot wound Ave is currently recovering from is self-inflicted. He was reportedly arrested at NYU Langone hospital, where he’s been recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The man that was killed was Ronald “Edgar” McPhatter, who was Troy’s bodyguard and it’s unclear if Troy was the alleged shooter.

“The investigation is moving forward very rapidly, an we expect to close it quickly,” says Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.
