Ever since the fatal shooting at Irving Plaza that ended in the killing of BSB member Ronald McPhatter and injured three others, including Troy Ave, speculations have been drawn on what exactly caused the dispute in the first place.

The New York Daily News reported that the cause of the shooting was an altercation between Maino’s crew and members of Troy Ave’s BSB crew. Maino quickly took to Instagram to dispel those rumors in a lengthy statement:

“First and foremost, my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ronald McPhatter, who was tragically killed last night,” Maino wrote. “Despite having to cope with more senseless violence, I woke up to the usual FALSE and ridiculous lies being circulated by irresponsible members of the media. What transpired was absolutely NOT the result of MYSELF or ANYBODY IN MY CAMP, ENTOURAGE, TRAVELING PARTY or ORGANIZATION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. We entered the venue respectfully as always and exited in shocked like all other concertgoers.”

He emphasized there’s no beef between him and Troy Ave or their crews:

“For the last five years, Troy Ave, his team and I have had a great working relationship,” the rapper wrote. “Not only have we performed and done several songs together, but we’ve had many personal conversations about life our goals and efforts as musicians. Despite media reports to the contrary, there are no ‘ongoing beefs’ or ‘entourage issues.’ It always has been and always will be good relations between myself AND MY TEAM and Troy Ave, Hovain, Young Lito and the BSB crew. Our deepest sympathies again to family of Ronald McPhatter and a speedy recovery to Troy Ave. The movement will not be stopped.”

Troy Ave was arrested and booked on Attempted Murder & Criminal Possession of a Weapon after video footage of him shooting in Irving Plaza was examined by the NYPD. See Maino’s posts below.
