The victim involved in the Irving Plaza shooting in New York City, Ronald “Edgar” McPhatter was laid to rest today at Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn. McPhatter was Troy Ave’s bodyguard and was the sole fatality the night of the shooting.  McPhatter was rushed to the hospital due to a gun shot wound to the chest and later was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital.

One of McPhatter’s aunts, Loretta McDonald shared a few kinds words about her nephew. “Everybody knew Edgar. Edgar was a polite young gentleman who wanted good things for these young guys coming up. He wanted good things for everyone. He really did.”

In addition, during the funeral service McPhatter’s mother asked that people keep Troy Ave in their prayers. “I just wanted to share with you all, if you’re righteous people that pray, pray for Troy Ave.”  “He needs your prayers and is going through a lot right now.”

There were four others that were struck during the shooting but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.  The shooting is still under police investigation. Our deepest sympathies go out to McPhatter’s family.
