Manuel Geovanny Rodriguez-Perez aka “El Monstruo” is now facing up to life in prison for his former actions. He was once a drug kingpin in the New York marijuana market while working at Roc-A-Fella. He ran the operation with Roc-A-Fella’s co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
Rodriguez-Perez has admitted to being involved with nine murders and 10 attempted murderers. He was most heavily involved in the drug operation from the early 1990’s until early 2010. Rodriguez-Perez claimed to have put out dozens of hits over 20+ years to keep his control of the market.
The NYPD began Operation Green Venom in July of 2008. The officers and detectives involved in the investigation used over 20 separate wiretaps to seize the group of men suspected of running the operation!
Burke was caught through a wiretap talking about drug supplies with Rodriguez-Perez. He also got caught on video stashing drugs and drug money into Rodriguez’s BMW in October of 2010.
Law enforcement decided they had enough hard evidence to raid Burke’s home and places he went to often; with good reason since they found 200 pounds of marijuana and $2 million in cash!
Burke was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison in 2012. He was released in January 2016.
Manuel Geovanny Rodriguez-Perez pled guilty in court to one count of racketeering in Manhattan and now faces up to life in prison.
