In honor of Prince’s 58th birthday, Alicia Keys released a tribute video to the late icon. The clip features Key’s performing “How Come You Don’t Call Me” at the Tribeca Film Festival at the Highline Ballroom in New York City on April 22nd, just one day after his death.
To accompy the video, Keys wrote a caption saying, “Happy Birthday, Prince! The one and only ??? Thinking of you today…. My tribute to you”. In the video, Keys goes into depth about a conversation the two shared. “How Come You Don’t Call Me” is special because Key’s covered it on her debut album Songs In A Minor. “He was like, ‘You know I never let anyone do my songs, right?” said Alicia, retelling her conversation with Prince. “I was like, ‘I’ve heard that before.’ He was like, ‘But I’ve been watching you. I’ve been seeing what you’re doing and I’d love for you to do my song.”
