Martha Stewart revealed to Chelsea Handler that she’s not a fan of Netflix’s hit show, “Orange Is The New Black,” because it hits too close to home.
For those who are unaware (though we are not sure how), Stewart served five months in jail when she was convicted of insider trading in 2004. She served her time in Connecticut’s Danbury Federal Correctional Institution, the same prison that OITNB’s “Litchfield Prison” is based off of.
“It’s not as good as the real thing,” Martha told Handler. “When you live through something like ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ the real characters are better.”
She said that their was only one television in a room with hard chairs and she didn’t get to watch it freely.
“In prison it was BET at all times of the night. I had to get up really early to watch the news … So if I wanted to watch the stock market and stuff like that I had to get up really early and watch it by myself.”
