A 20-year-old woman who survived the Orlando shooting with a gunshot wound to the leg hit out at skeptics who accused her of making up her survival story in bizarre conspiracy theories. Patience Carter, a Fox 29 intern from Philadelphia, was visiting Orlando for the first time when she got caught in the Pulse nightclub attack.
She was one of 53 people left wounded after the shooting, which left 50 dead including the shooter. But as Carter told how she survived the attack, some accused her online of being an actor paid to pretend she had been a victim of the ordeal. A now-defunct YouTube video claimed she was a ‘crisis actor’, which conspiracy theorists claim is a person hired by the media or by government bodies to pretend they survived crimes such as mass shootings.
‘This is faked. This is staged. They are using actors. There is no doubt about it. This is 100 percent bull***t,’ a narrator said in the video, which included a montage of news clips about Carter according to the New York Daily News.
