NBA All Star and Miami Heat shooting guard Dwayne Wade joined the likes of ten other athletes for this year’s ESPN Body Issue.
The 34-year-old, three-time NBA champ not only went naked for the issue, but also shed some light on how he overcame some of his own body insecurities. In the issue, he shares his childhood fear of not wanting to swim or play in water fights because of an outie belly button (yep, even NBA players deal with these problems). Opening up even more, with being different from the rest of his friends, he admits to missing out on some opportunities until he convinced himself to get over his insecurities.
After turning down the issue seven times, Wade later reveals he didn’t feel comfortable with his body “until four years ago.” His underwear line, Naked, inspired him to do the shoot.
“Right here is just me baring it all. This is as authentic as it gets.”
