They say now is the best time to be a young, talented black girl – because it’s lit! Gymnasts, Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles, are showing us better than they can tell us as they grace the double cover issue of Teen Vogue in August.
Major deal right? Well, of course! Not only are both of these ladies beautiful, but they are tremendous athletes that share the goal of shooting for the gold at this year’s Olympics, taking place in Rio.
At age 16, Gabby was flipping left and right earning a number of awards – including becoming the first African American to win gold in the All-Around. Douglas shares her insight on how to overcome doubt and fear.
“It took a long time for me to see my own potential… Finally something clicked and I knew I could be one of the best. It was a game changer. Now I’m like, ‘I am going for this. I’m going for it all.’” #Olympics world champ @gabbycvdouglas is going for the gold—again—along with first-timer @simonebiles. ?? Simone Biles, 19, is also ready to make it happen this year. As a young woman who has beat the World Gymnastics Championships three times and has taken home 10 gold medals, Biles is pushing herself to the limit this year.
“To go out there and prove what I can do has taught me a lot about who I am. We can push ourselves further. We always have more to give.” 19-year-old gymnastics phenom @simonebiles is ready to make her #Olympics debut as she and @gabbycvdouglas go for gold! ?Get to know the August cover stars at the link in bio. ?: @jasonkibblerstudio Styling: @celestinecooney
