Drake has joined the slew of other celebrities who have spoken out about the inability to be black and live your life freely in America.
Drake wrote in response to the killing of 37 year old Alton Sterling who was shot multiple times by two white police officers in Baton Rogue in his back and chest at point blank range and they pinned him to the ground.
In an open letter posted yesterday (July 6th), Drake wrote about how the video affected him. Though he is not an American, he considers America his second home. While the whole letter was gold, this line stood out, “It’s impossible to ignore that the relationship between black and brown communities and law enforcement remains as strained as it was decades ago.No one begins their life as a hashtag, yet the trend of being reduced to one continues.”
