Director Ava DuVernay first did a fabled job with Selma. She then switched it up to remake the sci-fi classic A Wrinkle In Time, and now she is trying out the documentary side of things in the prison film The 13th.
DuVernay’s latest film is supposed to open the 54th annual New York Film Festival this fall. The documentary is about the mass incarceration in America, as well as how the United States somehow currently has the highest rate of incarceration in the world.
The Film Festival is starting on Sept. 30 and ending on Oct. 16.
