“NO OBAMA. YOURE WRONG. JUST BECAUSE YOURE AFRAID OF SEEMING TO IN LINE OR IN SUPPORT OF BLACK INTERESTS DOESNT MEAN YOU GET TO KEEP SPITTING IN OUR F***ING FACES LIKE THIS,” she wrote, before proceeding to lay out her uncompromising expectations for the United States’ 44th Commander-in-Chief. “I completely understand that you will be killed by the white supremacy, if you were to stand on the side of Black people but saying s*** like this is making it worse. For all of us,” she continued before adding “we all know yo Black a** ain’t gonna do s*** for us.”
Banks’ comments came following the President’s response to the murder of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Along with her scathing tirade she posted a meme quoting Obama reading: “These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one. They right no wrongs. They advance no causes.” Obama has been forced to tread a thin line over the past several weeks, following a pattern that has become typical of his office since the murder of Trayvon Martin in 2012, when he projected feeling as though Matin could have been his own son.
During his speech before the families and members of law enforcement on hand for the funeral of five police officers ambushed while overseeing a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas last week, he managed to denounce directing violence towards cops while being self-critical of society, and lawmakers in the political establishment, admitting that “As a society, we choose to under-invest in decent schools. We allow poverty to fester so that entire neighborhoods offer no prospect for gainful employment. We refuse to fund drug treatment and mental health programs. We flood communities with so many guns that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.”
