Back in December Nicki Minaj’s older brother Jelani Maraj was arrested on first-degree rape charges. He was indicted for raping a 12-year-old girl several times between April and Novemeber of 2015. He pled not guilty and was released on an $100,000 cash bond.
In May Prosecutors found semen from an unknown man on the tween’s jeans the day after the alleged last rape happened in Novemeber 2015. Prosecutors requested that Maraj submit DNA to confirm if it was a match or not. Unfortunately, it was.
Nassau County District Attorney’s Office explained to the judge:
“…A DNA profile, a partial profile matching the defendant or consistent with the defendant, your honor, to the point in the hundreds of billionths of chance of it being any other individual, was discovered in the…pants of the complainant in this case, and also tested positive indicating the presence of semen.”
With this recent development, Maraj has since been offered a plea deal of 15 years to life. This is the second plea deal Maraj has been offered. Before the indictment, Maraj refused a deal of seven years in prison. If he refuses this deal, he could face life in prison if convicted once the trial starts in November.
