Tragic news coming from Baltimore this morning, as the story of 23-year-old Korryn Gaines who was shot and killed by the police comes to fruition, and her son was injured in the stand off.

Reports claim that authorities came to her the home of her and her boyfriend to serve them both warrants- Korryn’s was for failure to appear in court from a traffic violation back in March.

Officers say they got a key from the landlord to make their way inside the home after Korryn and the man inside refused to open the door. They said upon entering, Korryn was sitting in the floor with her son in her lap and a gun in her hand, threatening to kill officers if they didn’t leave.

Then, according to The Baltimore Sun:

An officer then fired once at Gaines, and she shot back several rounds, Johnson said. Police fired again, killing her. It was unclear where in the apartment the child was during the gunfire.

Korryn was killed and her son sustained “non life threatening” injuries during the gunfire exchange.

Details are developing on the case, but you can check out the official press conference from this morning.
