Yesterday (Aug. 2) Instagram made a new update that blew its users’ minds. The social media app introduced “Instagram Stories.” The new feature lets you add videos and photos in a “story” mode like Snapchat. After 24 hours the story disappears.
Here’s a step-by-step on how to use:
On the top left corner of the homescreen, there’s a “+” button. Tap that to access your camera.
The circle button centered at the bottom is your recorder. Tap it to take pictures, or hold it down to record a video.
After you finish, you can upload it by pressing the checkmark at the bottom. You can add a filter by swiping left and right, or add words and color using the icons in the top right corner.
You can hide your story from specific people if you like, they have a setting for filtering that. If your page is private only your followers can see it.
This new feature comes months after Facebook tried to buy Snapchat for $3 billion. Facebook, who owns Instagram have been known to fight fire with fire. When Vine didn’t sell to Facebook, the social media giant introduced a video option to Instagram.
