Taylor Swift gives $1 million to flood relief efforts in Louisiana after recent flooding that has left 11 people dead and 40,000 homes destroyed. Swift also released a statement where she talked about her love for Louisiana and encouraged others to help out in anyway possible.
“We began the 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home,” Swift, 26, said in the statement. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking. I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time.”
On Sunday, President Obama declared a federal emergency in Louisiana due to the flooding. Reportedly, more than 60,000 Louisiana residents have applied for disaster aid from Federal Emergency Management Agency. Other celebrities took to social media to pray for Louisiana and contribute to the relief efforts as well including Lil Wayne, Odell Beckham Jr., Lady Gaga, and Ellen DeGeneres.
