Drake and Gucci Mane together make up The 6ers. About a month ago Zaytoven spoke with XXL about a possible joint project between the artists after a photo of a bunch of them surfaced.
Now, that idea has been revealed with further details. It’s going to be called The 6ers, since both of them are from the 6. Not the same 6, but the 6 nonetheless. Zaytoven recently sat down with VladTV and spoke on the project:
“Gucci and Drake started talking. And you know how Gucci is, ‘Hey man, we gotta do a tape together. We gotta do something together.’ And Drake like, ‘Bet. We gotta do it.’ Right then, they started thinking about a name and then Drake said, I think he said, ‘We oughta call it The 6ers‘ or something like that because I guess where he’s from, they call it the 6 and Gucci Mane is from Zone 6. Then we just ran with it.”
The rappers then wasted zero time and went straight into the studio:
“Mike WiLL [Made-It] jumped in and was like, ‘Me and Zay will start on it. We’ll do the beats for it. We’ll start on that right now.’ Everybody was in agreeance with it. It was like, ‘Okay, that’s what we’re gonna do.’ And we started making songs on it already.”
Zaytoven said that Gucci has two songs finished for the project, and he is waiting for Drake to finish up his bars while he’s on the “Summer Sixteen Tour.” All these guys really hustle 24/7! In case you forgot, Drake And Gucci teamed up earlier this year on “Back on Road,” off Gucci’s latest album Everybody Looking. Check out the video below:
