The curious case of what happened the night Ryan Lochte and some of his fellow teammates claimed they were robbed by authorities in Rio is still a mystery. Video surveillance from the gas station poked holes into their story causing a complete fall out and driving Rio to prove that nothing of the sort occurred.
Now sources close to Lochte are speaking out after Rio authorities gave a press conference slamming Lochte and the U.S. Swim team for lying about the incident.
Sources in Lochte’s camp tell us the police news conference was full of lies — including the bit about two female witnesses the cops said were hanging with the 4 U.S. swimmers. We’re told that’s absolutely BS … and a personal attack designed to make the guys look bad, especially since some of them have girlfriends.
Lochte’s camp also says there’s no truth to the cops’ claim one of the swimmers confessed to lying. We’re told Lochte, Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen all stand united on what went down, including the fact a gun was used to commit the robbery.
Lochte returned to the U.S. days after the incident. Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were taken off a fight, leaving Rio going to Houston, TX on Wednesday. They were questioned by Brazilian authorities and released. See the press conference below.
