John Legend is serious about changing the way we view inmates in this country.

His initiative on to end mass incarceration in America, titled #FreeAmerica, launched a movement called “My Potential” to help show the world the potential of many of those locked away in America’s prisons, specifically those for petty crimes.

In a post on Facebook Live, Legend says the movement is to show that all of those involved in mass incarceration are, at the end of the day, human too:

“The aim is to highlight how all people — from crime survivors, to law enforcement, to children, to formerly incarcerated individuals — are impacted by mass incarceration.”
