Ryan Lochte to be summoned to Brazil to testify in regards to alleged robbery during the Olympic games. Reportedly, Lochte and three other U.S. olympic swimmers were held at gunpoint during the games in Rio. According to Fox Sports, there is no penalty if Lochte does not appear for the hearing. However, he will not be able to receive a plea deal if he fails to make an appearance to testify.
Currently, there are no charges against Lochte. Orignally, Lochte stated that he and fellow U.S. olympic swimmers Jack Conger, Gunnar Bentz and Jimmy Feigen were in a taxi and two men approached the car with guns and badges. Lochte stated that they were robbed and then shortly after apologized for exaggerating the story. According to Brazilian authorities, Lochte and fellow teammate Feigen were “indicted for reporting a false crime.” Also, Lochte has lost four of his major endorsement deals after the scandal.
