The best part of any music award show is obviously the performance! The 2016 MTV VMAs were nonstop with performances from Nick Jonas, Future, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

Beyoncé performed a 15 minute medley of songs from her album LEMONADE, making all in attendance and those watching feel like they were front row at her Formation World Tour, which starts another US leg in the next couple of weeks. Britney Spears hit the VMA stage for the first time in years with a special performance of her new singles “Make Me” & “Me, Myself & I” with G-Eazy. There was a super awkward moment during the performance where it looked like G-Eazy was going in for a kiss (and possible VMA news headline?), but Brit rejected it so effortlessly.

The woman of the night, Rihanna performed not one, not two, but four times. Her sets were comprised of some of her biggest hits over the last 11 years and had a pop/EDM set, a dancehall set, a urban/ratchet set, and of course a set featuring some of her biggest ballads. Drake gave his reported “girlfriend” her 2016 Micheal Jackson Video Vangard Award confessing to the audience that he has loved Rihanna since he was 22. The two engaged in a cute hug/ kiss on the cheek (many believed that Drake was going in for the lips, and was denied by Rih) and Rihanna gave a speech thanking all of her friends, family, fans and execs for supporting her over the last 11 years.
