Santa Clara police threatens to boycott games over Colin Kaepernick’s protest. On Friday, the Santa Clara police sent a letter to the 49ers CEO Jed York stating their plans of boycotting home games at Levi’s Stadium unless the team takes a stand on Kaepernick’s “inappropriate workplace behavior.”

According to president of the Santa Clara Police Officers Association, Frank Saunders states that some police officers are not showing up to work for next week Monday night’s football game.  The 49ers will open their home game of the season against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, September 12.

During preseason, Kaepernick has decided to remain seated during the national anthem because he refuses to “stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color.” Also, earlier this week Kaepernick has been receiving a lot of attention for wearing socks that depicts police officers as pigs.  The 49ers has supported Kaepernick thus far and has stated “an individual to choose to participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
