The future is now as the Obama administration has endorsed self-driving cars this past Monday. It’s no longer something we see in cartoons and futuristic movies as the U.S government believes that having these autonomous cars will make the roads a better place.
Jeffrey Zients, director of National Economic Council stated:
“We envision in the future, you can take your hands off the wheel, and your commute becomes restful or productive instead of frustrating and exhausting,” and that it “will save time, money and lives.”
The Department of Transportation has released it’s first set of safety guidelines, which means companies all over are jumping at the news. Of course, Google was the first company to get on the autonomous cars, following with Apple, Tesla, BMW and the car services, Uber and Lyft.
It won’t be too long before we self-driving cars all over the place.
