After days of public pressure and protest, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released the body-cam and dash-cam footage from the officer-involved shooting of Keith Lamont Scott. During a press conference Saturday night (Sept. 24), Police Cheif Kerr Putney said he is “absolutely not” recommending charges for the officers involved.

Putney said that Scott was less than a half of a blunt and ignoring police commands to drop his gun before he was shot four times. Shortly after the press conference, the dash-cam and body-cam footage was released to the public. Putney stated that the videos along with witness statements, and photographs give “indisputable evidence” of the police version of the events.

Shortly after CMPD’s press conference, Scott’s family held a short one of their own where they addressed the video and what they saw. “When I look at the dash cam footage I don’t see anything there in my opinion that would lead to him losing his life,” Scott family attorney said.
