Rihanna has just been named Global Ambassador for Education.
RiRi’s Clara Lionel Foundation has just teamed up with Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizenship on a multi-year initiative to encourage and support education around the world. With this initiative, Rihanna hopes to be an advocate for more than a quarter of a billion children who are not currently in school as well as the 330 million students who aren’t learning in the schools they are currently enrolled in.
In a statement issued by the Global Ambassador for Education, Rihanna stated:
“I feel strongly that all children everywhere should be afforded the opportunity of a quality education. Therefore I’m proud to announce Clara Lionel Foundation’s partnership with education advocacy leaders like the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen. Working together, I know we can amplify our efforts and ensure that millions of children gain access to education globally.”
Rihanna’s scholarship fund, Clara Lionel Foundation, was established in 2012 and is affectionally named as a tribute to her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
