Leonardo DiCaprio decided to use his platform at The White House’s South by South Lawn event to talk climate change with President Obama.
Getting right to the point, he broke down the importance and urgency of addressing the issue of climate change around the globe:
“If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in facts or in science or empirical truths.”
His statement is in direct correlation with his new documentary, Before the Flood, which we was promoting during the entire event. While the actor was supposed to serve as a moderator between a discussion on climate change between President Obama and Texas Tech atmospheric scientist Katharine Hayhoe, Leo made sure his points got across as well.
President Obama has some ideas about what he thought was possible, saying that a carbon tax is a ways away, because “We’re on the more pessimistic end of what was possible.”
