The Internet has just appeared on the cover of the latest issue of Fader, and in the interview they talked about their new music. They first said that their fourth album is dropping in spring of 2017, and they all just began the writing process for the project this month. On top of that, several members of the group will be releasing solo projects.
Syd’s project is called Dive:
“This album is not that deep, but I feel like this is my descent into the depth I want the band to get to. I grew up on Radio Disney and N’ Sync and Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys so I’ve always loved pop music. The soul shit we do is dope, but my solo shit is giving me the option to explore a poppier, more popular sound.”
Syd has apparently already written 14 songs for Dive. Group member Matt is soon releasing a solo project as well but it doesn’t have a name yet:
“My shit is very weird and wonky but it’s very core-heavy and melodic. Syd’s is more bouncy, very upbeat. They don’t sound like Internet songs, [but] they sound like people that are in The Internet.”
Most of the other members have solo music as well, but no solid plans yet about when they’re coming out or what they’re sounding like. 2017 is right around the corner, so fans are probably getting more and more excited as the days pass.
