Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump met for round two of the presidential At the end of the debate the two candidates were asked to say something they like about each other. Hillary Clinton said “his children,” and Trump called Clinton “a fighter,” that pretty much summed up what took place at the 90 minute debate on Oct. 9.
There were very little policy talk, but moderator Anderson Cooper immediately addressed the elephant in the room, the tapes that leaked over the weekend of Trump’s early 2000s conversation with then-host of “Access Hollywood,” Billy Bush. Trump said that the conversation was just “locker room talk.” “Nobody has more respect for women than I do,” he added. After that, he deflected all questions regarding the situation and most questions from the evening. Clinton responded by touching on how the Republican party is pulling their support from Trump since the leaking of the tapes.
When asked about how to stop Islamophobia, Trump said, “You’re right about Islamophobia and that’s a shame.” But then immediately turned it to a discussion about “radical Islamic terrorists,” using the Orlando shootings, 9/11 and more to drive his point of fear. Clinton responded by saying “We are not at war with Islam,” she said. “It plays into the hands of the terrorists to act as though we are.”
There was barely talk about policy, and Trump avoided most questions. The two will meet for the next debate in two weeks. You can watch the full debate above.
