First Kobe, then Tim Duncan, then KG and now Paul “The Truth” Pierce.
After the 2016-2017 NBA season, Paul Pierce announced plans to retire as a member of Boston Celtics, according to Justin Termine of Sirius XM NBA Radio. Back in September, Pierce wrote an open letter reveling that this upcoming season will be his last. In the letter, he wrote, “It’s time to move from the game of basketball. Just like any difficult decision, I think you’ve got to be at peace with yourself.”
Pierce retiring isn’t really a surprise, seeing as though he entered the league in 98′. But it always sucks to see NBA greats that you have watched for so long bow out the game, even though we know all great things must come to an end. Despite bouncing around in the later parts of his carrer, Boston is where Pierce made is mark in the NBA, spending the first 15 years of his career there, so it’s only right, to himself, the city and Bostin Celtic fans everywhere, that he retire a Celtic.
After this season, The Truth is coming home.
