After years of stalling in the investigation of the death of Eric Garner, the investigation has been pulled from New York City prosecutors and in the hands of Washington-based federal prosecutors. Since Garner’s death in 2014, federal investigators in Brooklyn have been reluctant to bring charges against Daniel Pantaleo, the NYPD officer who killed Garner with the chokehold in Staten Island.
With the investigation now in DC investigator’s hands, they plan to bring charges up “sooner than later.” A source told The New York Post that their DC colleagues are trying to “make an example out of Panaleo at any cost.”
