This is not the first time we heard Lena Dunham say something that only she thought was funny. This time, it’s about abortion.

During the Women of the Hour podcast, the Girls creator spoke on visitng a Planned Parenthood in Texas and the “stigma”, she feels, surrounding abortion. She then went on to say she “jumped” at the chance to be apart of a project where women spoke about their abortions even though she herself has never had one. Even though she hasnt had one, she dosnt beleive that should stop her form being an activist for the cause. Okay, makes sense but the problem is what she said at the end.

“Even I, the woman who cares as much as anybody about a woman’s right to choose, felt it was important that people know I was unblemished in this department.”

And the kicker:

“Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.”

This caused the internet to go crazy. The fact that Dunham said she wishes she had an abortion resonated as insensitive. That comment makes abortion seem like light work like women are out here getting abortions for fun and not actual real life reasons.

Lena has since apologized but the damage has been done. Check out reactions as well as Lena’s response below.
