While most were turning up on New Year’s Eve, many kept the night quiet by staying in and watching ABC’s annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special. Each year, the annual show (formally known as “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve) brings out the who’s who in music and entertainment. This year, the Pop Diva herself, Mariah Carey was set to bring in the new year.

Well, things didn’t go according to plan for Mariah, she gave an awfully obvious lip-sync performance of “Auld Lang Syne,” which then went into the instrumental for “Emotion” with no vocals. Looking completely over it, she then walked around on stage saying that she couldn’t hear and they “didn’t have a check for this song, so we’ll just say it went to number one… I’m going to say let the audience sing.” The teleprompter didn’t work at one point, and ABC execs said that her battery pack for her earpiece was changed, explaining the malfunction.

Afterward, she reportedly went off backstage calling out ABC and the Dick Clark Productions for “sabotaging” the performance. Reportedly, ABC wouldn’t allow her sound people work the show and she thinks they sabotaged her performance for more ratings.
Another round of “I don’t know her,” continues.
