Mariah Carey has finally broken her silence about the New Year’s Eve disaster during the “Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” special on ABC. So far her manager and the Dick Clark production company has spoken out, now Mariah is giving her point of view about what went wrong.
She said that she isn’t weary of doing other live events, but she was indeed horrified in real time. She said the lambs’ (her fanbase) support has been overwhelming and a huge help.
“My true fans have been so supportive and I am so appreciative of them and everybody in the media that came out to support me after the fact because it really was an incredible holiday season that turned into a horrible New Year’s Eve.”
On the flipside, Mariah has reportedly fired dancer and long-time collaborator Anthony Burrell.
“He’s not being brought back [in 2017] for a number of reasons,” a source told ET. Reportedly Burrell made a placement decision without consulting Carey or her management team before the NYE performance.
He moved Carey’s backup singers off the stage for the live performance in order to make more room for the dancers.
Yikes… The fallout continues.
