On January 20th, D.C. will be divided in more ways than one. The inauguration of President-Elect Trump has been the talk of the nation and will take place on that day. The struggle for the Trump administration to find performers for the swearing-in ceremony has prompted an alternative for the event altogether.
Busboys and Poets, an insanely popular restaurant chain in the Washington, D.C. area, has scheduled a The 2017 Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance event that will take place the evening before the Inauguration and will feature Solange Knowles!
After the enormous success of her 2016 solo album “A Seat At The Table”, she is one of the most sought after artists. Solange is no stranger to the presidential events that have been taking place as the Obamas exit the White House. She was just featured at the Farewell Dinner just last week.
The Peace Ball will include appearances from Melissa Harris-Perry, Angela Davis, Alice Walker, Eve Ensler, Danny Glover, and Ashley Judd, just to name a few. “It’s not really an inaugural ball, it’s more of a gathering of folks to have some joy and camaraderie and get energized for, I think, a very long and arduous road ahead of us,” says Andy Shallal, owner of Busboys and Poets.
