Not a dry eye was in the room as Barack Obama delivered his final farewell message to 20,000 fans at the Chicago’s McCormick Place. Not to mention the outpour of social media mentions, and the 2 million+ television viewers who watched a man who has made history say his final farewell.
BJ The Chicago Kid was perfect to sing the national anthem being a Chicago kid himself. Obama has heavy roots in Chicago where he first started as a grassroots organizer. As a community organizer, Obama worked in Altgeld Gardens Housing Projects, where he helped residents whose homes were affected with asbestos. He also organized Chicago residents with issues with their water, amongst other issues. This led Obama a seat to a seat on the Illinois State Senate.
Celebrities from Drake, T.I, Kendrick Lamar, John Legend expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Obama, while the outpour of love felt for the president was evident amongst the outpour social media posts and mentions.
