According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kenya Barris who is the creator of ABC’s Black-Ish, will be creating a White Men Can’t Jump remake starring L.A. Clippers star Blake Griffen and Carolina Panthers star Ryan Kalil.
White Men Can’t Jump is a classic basketball film from 1992 that starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. The film was based on two hustlers who became friends and used their basketball talents to hustler other opponents.
Kenya Barris is acting as both writer and producer for the project. In September of 2016, Barris signed a production deal with 20th Century Fox, which this project will fall under. Both Blake Griffin and Ryan Kalil also have signed agreements as producers for the forthcoming remake through the Mortal Media company.
There isn’t any confirmation on when the film will be releasing or when they will start filming, but it sounds like it’ll be coming sooner than we think.
