The Oscar nominations are in!

After last year’s #OscarSoWhite fiasco, all eyes were on the Academy to diversify their nominations. Not one person of color was nominated for an award in the last two years. The nomination list was released and this year, it looks a little more promising. Moonlight, Fences and Hidden Figures are all nominated for Best Picture and Denzel Washington is up for Best Actor while Ruth Negga is up for Best Actress. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer are both nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category. This continues Washington’s reign as the most nominated black actor while Viola snags her third nomination making her the most nominated black actress.

The Oscars are hosted this year by “The Tonight Show” funny man Jimmy Kimmel and will air February 26th live from Hollywood at the Dolby Theatre on ABC.
