Trump let the world know through his favorite communication medium, Twitter, that if the violence in Chicago doesn’t cease, he will send in the federal government.
In 2016, Chicago saw its deadliest year in over two decades, 762 murders and 4,300 shooting victims and 2017 isn’t looking that much better. Already the city has seen 42 killings- compared to the 32 this time last year.
It seems as though Trump’s tweet was inspired Fox News host Bill O’Reilly who was advocating for federal intervention in Chicago a little before Trump sent out his tweet.
Trump has not elaborated on what he means by “send in the feds” because you know, you can only tweet out 140 characters at a time. We are sure there are more tweets where that came from but a press conference, maybe with a formal plan in tow, might work a little better.
