Magic Johnson deserves a standing ovation as he has just been named the President of Basketball Operations for the Los Angeles Lakers.
In addition to his new role, Johnson will also serve as general manager until the trade deadline passes Friday since Mitch Kupchak, longtime GM, was let go. In a statement released Tuesday, Johnson talked about how working for the organization is a dream come true,
“It’s a dream come true to return to the Lakers as president of basketball operations working closely with Jeanie Buss and the Buss family. Since 1979, I’ve been a part of the Laker Nation and I’m passionate about this organization. I will do everything I can to build a winning culture on and off the court. We have a great coach in Luke Walton and good young players. We will work tirelessly to return our Los Angeles Lakers to NBA champions.”
Even if you know nothing about basketball you know Magic Johnson. He earned 5 NBA championship rings and is considered a basketball legend. Johnson is also part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the WNBA Sparks.
Keep the wins coming Magic, this is amazing.
