Apple recently announced a collaborative effort with the (Red) campaign, committing to continue to fight AIDS.
This morning, the company announced that they will be releasing a special edition of an iPad and iPhone, that will be available in red.
This isn’t the first time Apple has committed to helping fund AIDS research; back in 2006 the company partnered with (Red) to release a special red edition of the iPod Nano, and they were able to raise over $130 million in sales to for the campaign.
Apple CEO Tim Cook says he believes companies should align themselves with philanthropic causes, saying:
“My view on this — which I recognize is different from that of some others — is that just as people have values, so too should corporations. One of ours at Apple is the idea that part of being a great company is leaving the world better than you found it.”
Will you be buying the special edition devices?
