Jon Favreau, who directed 2016’s live-action/CGI “The Jungle Book” movie, will direct the live-action remake of the Disney classic, “The Lion King.” So far, Donald Glover will play Simba and James Earl Jones, who played Mufasa in the animated film will reprise the role.
As casting continues, Favreau has his eyes on Beyoncé to play Simba’s childhood best friend Nala. With the upcoming birth of the twins approaching, it is feared that she won’t be able to fit it in her schedule. Variety reports since it’s voice-acting role, the studio and director “will do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule.”
There is currently no release date set for Favreau’s “The Lion King” live-action movie.
