On April 4, Pepsi released a new commercial starring Kendall Jenner that is raising eyebrows. Jenner plays a model who is intrigued by a protest passing by her photoshoot. Jenner joins the protest and gave a soda to a group of stern police officers. Since the release of the ad, bothe Pepsi and Jenner have been accused of being “tone deaf,” especially since it was released on the anniversary of the assignation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
After backlash from social media and major publications, Pepsi released a statement on the ad.
“This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”

If I had carried Pepsi I guess I never would've gotten arrested. Who knew?
