Is Lil Wayne finally (officially) signed to the Roc? According to Weezy F. Baby, the answer is yes. Just a few months after calling himself a “Roc-A-Fella millionaire,” Wayne says he has officially joined Roc Nation.

Wayne performed at a concert at Slippery Rock Universty in Pennsylvania when he announced his new major move. “Is it cool if I just say it?” he asked. “It’s the Roc! You know I’m a member of that team now.” Then, he held up the infamous diamond synonymous with Roc-A-Fella/Roc Nation.

The history of Jay Z signing Lil Wayne actually goes back to 2005. In between Tha Carter and Tha Carter II Wayne considered leaving his home of Cash Money Records for a new label and Jay Z was interested in signing him to Roc-A-Fella.

“First of all, he was at the 40/40 in the daytime, and when I got up there he was talking, it was Denzel [Washington], it was Derek Jeter. I was like, ‘This is his clique?’ And they up there just [fake] laughing at jokes I just don’t get. He literally sat me down next to him…That man offered me 175 [thousand dollars]. I said, ‘Believe that…’ I was looking like, two teeth in my mouth is 175, like two of them. My bottom teeth. So we laugh about that all the time. We joke about it all the time.”

In 2015, Wayne said he signed a “deal” with Jay Z, it turned out to be a partnership with TIDAL where he released the album Free Weezy and streamed the Lil Weezyana Fest in 2015 and 2016. It hasn’t been confirmed by Roc Nation, nor it is known if this is a management or a label deal. However, Lil Wayne is still in legal limbo with his former mentor Birdman. The %51 million suit is still ongoing with no resolve in the immediate future.
