Tragedy struck NBA point guard Isiah Thomas and his family over the weekend as his 22-year-old sister Chyna Thomas died as a result of a one-car accident in Washington.
The News Tribune reports the 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after the 1998 Toyota Camry she was in drifted into the shoulder of a highway and lurched into a barrier.
“That vaulted the vehicle head-on into the sign post,” State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nick King said. Thomas was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident according to Washington State Police.
“We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas,” the Celtics said in a statement Saturday, according to ESPN. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family.” The NBA’s commissioner Adam Silver also released a statement, sending his condolences to the Thomas family:

Prayers to him and his family during this tragic time.
